Feeding the illusion

"You take from me so much,
And yet you give so little.
Your love is so sweet,
And yet it sometimes tastes so bitter.

You're like a summer rose,
With thorns to leave a blood stain.
You fill my life with your beautiful scent,
But the perfume is there only to mask the pain.

You're an illusion of grandeur,
Always a fountain of love and lust.
You lift my spirit up until the skyline,
Just to return it gracefully back to dust.

Still I give you my all,
You don't even have to insist.
I give it for a hope to cling to,
Even if your love does not really exist."

by a dear one.
